![]() You'd have to take that up with the emulator developers, though. Most games that perform this check do it to change the color palette to make the graphics look better on a GBA, in order to account for the different screens - but for an emulator, that's not normally something you'd want. Yeah, It will be a nice addition to Retroarch as it allows us to emulate Nintendo Switch Games. They are adjusted and stored in a different way to the general. I am not aware of any emulators that allow these checks. RetroArch Cores (emulators) typically have options unique to them, known as Core Options. The fact that Shantae, a GBC game, will not load on the Mednafen core, indicates that this is indeed true. While VBA-M, which Mednafen is based on, supports both systems, the core used in the RetroArch appears to only contain the GBA-related code, with Gambatte being used for GB/GBC support (as per SevenSidedDie's comment). Hence, emulating GBA-enhanced functionality for a GBC-game would be done in a GBC emulator, not a GBA emulator, and it is there an option for GBA enhancements would need to exist. New Switch cores 49 Cores now Just a few days after launch, we already have a few new cores for the Nintendo Switch available for Nintendo Switch You can grab these new cores by going to ‘Online Updater’ -> ‘Update Cores’ from within RetroArch, and downloading them one by one. The game cannot and does not make any use of the added hardware it doesn't have access to anything that isn't already on a GBC. Just extract the archive to the root of your SD card to install or update your copy of RetroArch (overwrite any existing file). Using the stable bundle (recommended) You can find a bundle with RetroArch, all the cores and all the assets here. GBA-enhanced games supposedly work by checking the hardware state on startup and registering this internally, then uses that to make things work differently. Downloading and installing There are multiple ways of downloading RetroArch for your Switch. Effectively, it's two seperate systems in one. Our team has pushed an inhuman amount of effort over the holidays into making sure we can finally make the big switch in our infrastructure that we have been building up to ever since the server hack this past September. Lets install, setup & configure one of the best Emulator for the switchRECOMMENDED CORES:Arcade (90s and CPS): FB Alpha 2012Arcade (Neo Geo): FB Alpha 2012. This is surprising but probably due to less inlining. Our new Libretro Infrastructure is now going live (Plus Dosbox Pure out for Android/Mac/Windows) January 1, 2021. The way an actual GBA makes GB(C) games work is due to the GBA containing the hardware for both systems (which is why the Game Boy Micro didn't have GBC compatibility it lacked the extra hardware). Several fixes and improvements do NGC and Wii (13698) Support new elf2dol path in iffin Fix NULL pointer dereference when no core info is available Fix double include of different versions of libogc Move ngc and wii to mon Resulting binary is 60K smaller. ![]()
